Haitian Government Hires Blackwater Founder Erik Prince Amid Security Crisis

Port-au-Prince, Haiti — The Haitian government has signed a controversial contract with Erik Prince, founder of the infamous private military company Blackwater, to help combat escalating gang violence in the country.

Prince, whose former firm was responsible for the 2007 Nisour Square massacre in Iraq that killed 17 civilians, has remained active in the private security world despite widespread criticism of his methods. His involvement in Haiti marks a desperate move by Haitian authorities facing a collapse in public security and governance. Mind you, he recently said on a podcast that the U.S. should “put the imperial hat back on” and take over and directly run huge swaths of the globe.

Details of the contract remain unclear, but the deal is reportedly aimed at reclaiming gang-controlled areas and protecting critical infrastructure. Human rights organizations have condemned the move, warning of potential abuses and deepening instability.

The decision has drawn sharp international scrutiny, with critics calling it a dangerous gamble that could backfire on an already fragile state.
